Welker, Dickson appear ready to go for Thursday

The first full Week One injury report will arrive on Wednesday.  For the teams who’ll play Thursday night, the initial report was published on Monday.

For the two teams who’ll be playing, the list of injured players reflects good news as to one key player.

Broncos receiver Wes Welker fully participated in practice despite an ankle injury suffered in the preseason.  Ditto for Ravens tight end Ed Dickson, who tore a hamstring last month.

Not practicing for the Broncos were cornerback Champ Bailey (foot), running back C.J. Anderson (knee), and tight end Joel Dreessen (knee).  Guard Chris Kuper, who didn’t play in the preseason as he deals with an ankle injury, was limited in practice.  Defensive end Robert Ayers (Achilles), quarterback Brock Osweiler (shoulder), and tackle Ryan Clady (shoulder) all fully participated.

For the Ravens, defensive tackle Art Jones (illness) and tight end Dennis Pitta (hip) are out.  Tackle Ryan Jensen (foot), receiver Deonte Thompson (foot), and defensive tackle Brandon Williams (toe) did not practice.

The two team will issue another report on Tuesday, and they’ll apply the probable-questionable-doubtful labels on Wednesday.

I’m looking forward to the Ravens defense against Peyton. The Ravens offense has a lot of questions to answer. Hopefully it will be a great game with the same outcome as the playoffs last year.
    Go Ravens

Should have made the first game of the season competitive. Denver’s gonna win by 30.

    Broncos by 30 points.

As a Broncos fan I gotta say that picture makes me weep with joy. Good time to be a Bronco

Art Jones missing the game is a big deal, very underated player. Williams’s injury at the same position doesn’t help either.
One of the Ravens’ biggest strength this year is DL depth/rotation, taking these two guys out makes a big difference

Suggs finally sacks Manning. Dumervil gets some too. Going to be a long night for that broncos offensive line and Peyton manning.

Wes won’t drop any passes until the super bowl…

Lets see now, gametime temperature should be above 40 degrees… Manning will be fine. Until he gets a face full of T-sizzle.

As a Bronco fan I say its close 27-24, I think Baltimore has a great D-line in the making. There secondary is going to need them to get to the Q.B quick.Denver has a passing attack that not even Seattle could slow down (dont let the score fool you)

Broncos will dominate… and will do so in the playoffs this year as well. Going to be a great season for the Broncos.

  15. ahostiletakeover says: Sep 3, 2013 10:31 AM

The Ravens are 5-0 in season openers under John Harbaugh, winning by an average margin of 16.2 points.

Be careful of those Manning floaters in the slot
Wes because you will feel like a bug hitting a windshield.

You should check Manning’s career record against Baltimore guy..He isn’t scared of that overgrown Sam Cassell look alike/sloth from goonies..

Right. Because zero game planning combined with basic preseason coverages is a great way to determine how good your passing attack is…

The over-pay to Flacco is about to be seen. Ravens gave up huge talent on D, talent that took them to the SB.

Flacco is inconsistent year to year, so it’ll be interesting to see if the money pushes him to play as well as he did last year, or if Joe will take the Ravens out of the playoffs entirely with his massively over-paid contract.

  22. petehimself2112 says: Sep 3, 2013 11:46 AM

Flacco is going to tear the denver defense apart, he did it last year in the playoffs and now your missing your two best pass rushers and corner, how are you gunna even get a hand on Flacco?……Meanwhile the ravens added a pashrusher, finally have the DPOY 2011 healthy and throw in one of the best corners in the league who was hurt last year Ladarius Webb. The only position group the broncos have better then the ravens would be wide receivers……..28-17 Ravens.

Wekler. Sigh. Gonna miss him here in NE this season …

  24. baltimoresnativeson says: Sep 3, 2013 12:19 PM

If I had to bet money I would say Denver in a very close game. Home field and Peyton in mild weather gives them a slight edge. (Ravens fan by the way)

Ravens defense was ranked 17th last year and gave up several leads including the superbowl.

Offense was the backbone last year and will be for a while now.

OK sorry all you Ravens fans but talking about your D is not the right thing to do. You lost your defensive leader in Ray Lewis, and you second best LB in Ellerbe, and now you are banking on T-sizzle to do all the work. The DL is very tough but in a 3-4 the bulk of the work comes from the LB’s.

Manning coming off a full year with in the offense and after rehabbing his neck. The addition of passing weapons and improvement to Broncos D will make this a good game but it should not be very close Broncos by 13.

Broncos lost Dumerville and Von is suspended but the addition of Nate Irving, DRC, Inehacoe, and moving Chris Harris back to nickel, the Broncos D is stacked with great talent and deep.

And remember SISSIES play at Sea Level, welcome to a MILE HIGH.

    1) Ellerbe wasn’t a starter. He’s just paid starter money now.
    2) Why does Sizzle have to do “all the work”? Elvis would disagree. I’m sure you remember him.
    3) That mile high air sure mattered in January, didn’t it. Short memory…

Also, the Steeler fans desperate for a blowout win by the team that last knocked them out of the playoffs is nothing short of adorable.

Seeing a lot of arrogance from Broncos fans. I had forgotten how ignorant they were since the last time they were relevant.

These teams are two of the best in the AFC and will meet agin this season.
    Broncos win this game.
And lose again in the playoffs, when it matters.

Flacco was paid for his body of work as the Ravens QB! From year one he has taken the Ravens to the playoffs….I agree Boldin helped them over the hump, however, Flacco was good before Boldin even got there…So please, all this Joe Flacco bashing is ridiculous!!!!!

Oh please, you know how many articles I read last season about Rice needing to get more involved for the ravens to be more succesful? You don’t feed your RB the ball more if you have a great QB. And you raven homers were all lining up in agreement. Rahim Moore had more impact on $ than Flacco’s body of work.

Everything changed when Cam Cameron was shown the door. We’ll see this year if that change was permanent

oh please crown….steeler fans hoping for blowouts and commentin on another team’s offense is just sad
