Dan Carpenter passed a chance to audition for a vacant Browns job, and he’s going to get at least one week’s work with the Bills.
Via Tim Graham of the Buffalo News, Bills coach Doug Marrone announced that Carpenter would kick this week.
Sixth-round pick Dustin Hopkins didn’t practice Wednesday because of a right groin strain, which led to Carpenter’s signing.
The Bills will be the fourth team he’s kicked for in the last month, after the Dolphins, Jets and Cardinals each elected to go with someone else.
Considering Hopkins was drafted, and drafted kickers get more chances than others, Carpenter’s likely to be looking for a fifth team at some point. But that won’t be for at least another week.
