Falcons wide receiver Roddy White has played in 128 straight NFL games and he doesn’t plan on letting his ankle get in the way of extending that streak.

White was unequivocal when it came to questions about his status for Sunday’s game against the Saints. The streak will reach 129 games, although he was clear that continuing the streak was not at the top of the list of reasons why he’ll be in the lineup.

“I never thought about [the streak] really. You just go out there and football players play football, so you don’t think about whether you’re going to miss a game or you’re not going to play and things like that,” White said, via the team’s website. “When you have the opportunity to play, you just play. I never really thought about the streak until everybody else started talking about it. You just do what you’ve gotta do and get yourself ready to play. I’m 100 percent certain I’ll be out there on Sunday.”

White may not be 100 percent recovered from his sprained ankle, but playing in 128 games isn’t something you do when you’re only able to play well at 100 percent. With Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Tony Gonzalez and Steven Jackson on hand to do a good share of the lifting, White shouldn’t have to push things too far in the first weekend of the season.
