For much of this offseason, it appeared that Vonta Leach wouldn’t even be on the Ravens this year. But in fact he’s there with his teammates to open the season in Denver, and he just scored the first touchdown of this NFL season.

Leach, the veteran fullback who was released and then re-signed by the Ravens this offseason, caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to give the Ravens a 7-0 lead over the Broncos.

The touchdown capped a 10-play, 80-yard drive by the Ravens that saw Flacco march the offense down the field much like he did through last year’s playoffs. The Ravens’ offense is looking good.

Baltimore benefited from starting that drive at the 20-yard line after a touchback. Denver’s Andre Caldwell was in position to down the punt deep in Baltimore territory, but the ball bounced into the end zone.

Now Denver needs Peyton Manning to respond.
