Browns’ Ahtyba Rubin, Buster Skrine questionable for Week One

One of the NFL’s more productive defensive linemen was added to his club’s injury report on Friday.

Browns left defensive end Ahtyba Rubin missed practice with a calf injury Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Dolphins.

Rubin, 27, has been a dependable core performer for the Browns the last three seasons. He notched more than 80 tackles — as an interior lineman, no less — in 2010 and 2011. In 13 starts in 2012, Rubin recorded 44 tackles, defended two passes and notched two sacks.

Second-year pro John Hughes is listed as the top backup to Rubin.

Rubin wasn’t the only Browns defensive starter not to practice Friday. Right cornerback Buster Skrine (shoulder) is questionable for Miami. Ex-Falcons corner Chris Owens is next up on the depth chart if Skrine cannot play.

Including Skrine, the Browns list just four cornerbacks on their depth chart.

Rubin got sandwiched but he’ll be OK.

Ugh, my poor Browns. Can’t even make it into week one without one of our best players at 100%.

Just hoping we can keep a good coaching staff together for a few years and give them a chance.

Buster Skrine is Awful! He tot torched last year by and personally cost us some games. I’m pretty sure Chris Owens, the CB from the Falcons beat Skrine out right and the Browns are doing the scouting dis-information game to throw Miami off. I smell conspiracy. They’re going to go right after Owens, and he was no snuff for the Falcons. The Rubin injury is legit and is a blow though.. Hope he plays.

As the opening day kickoff approaches the Browns are short handed again with very little depth. Same old story for a 5-win team.

If she’s going to name it Skrine, she deserves to have it busted.

All Buster Skrine is notable for is being absolutely dominated by Victor Cruz last season. #3TDs #SalsaInCleveland
