The Cowboys put defensive end Ben Bass on injured reserve on Saturday, ending his season with Dallas.
A reserve lineman, Bass suffered a separated shoulder in practice this week. The 23-year-old Texas A&M product appeared in two games for Dallas in 2012.
To replace Bass, the Cowboys re-signed defensive tackle Jerome Long, whom they waived on August 31.
Long, 23, spent the bulk of last season on the Chiefs’ practice squad. Jacksonville signed him late last season, then waived him this offseason. The Cowboys signed him in June.
The Cowboys could be down two defensive line starters on Sunday. Defensive tackle Jay Ratliff (hernia) is on the PUP list, and defensive end Anthony Spencer (knee) is doubtful.
