Getting cut by the Patriots isn’t always a final decision.

For the third time since “final cuts” a week ago, the Patriots have brought a player back who they had previous released.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Patriots re-signed return man Leon Washington back today. He joins fullback James Develin and cornerback Marquice Cole on the list of guys they took a mulligan on this week (although journeyman tight end Matthew Mulligan was cut two days after signing to make room for Develin’s comeback).

Washington had drawn some interest, and worked out for the Jets, but there were probably teams interested in him next week, when his salary wouldn’t have been guaranteed for the year.
