Rodgers ends business relationship with Ryan Braun

When Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers appropriately called out Brewers slugger Ryan Braun in July for lying to Rodgers about PED use, Rodgers said it hadn’t been determined whether their restaurant partnership will continue.

A determination has now been made:  Braun is out.

Via the Associated Press, SURG Restaurant Group will change the name of the 8-Twelve MVP Bar & Grill in Milwaukee.  The name also will be changed for what would have been a second 8-Twelve location in Bayshore.

SURG operated the restaurant under a licensing agreement with the players.  Rodgers will continue to be associated with SURG, with “a focus on community relations and charitable activities.”

Another SURG restaurant affiliated only with Braun will close by the end of the year.  It’s name is Graffito, which may or may not be Italian for “Juice Bar.”

Too bad for Braun. Both venues are excellent restaurants with great food. If you haven’t checked them out, you should.

How long till Braun accuses Rodgers of antisemitism after this?

  11. 12is3times4 says: Sep 7, 2013 7:30 PM

The 8-Twelve (or whatever it’ll be called now) is actually in suburban Brookfield, not Milwaukee as the article states. The food there isn’t bad, but it is pretty spendy, so I’ve only been there once. Maybe I’ll give it another shot now that Lyin’ Fraud is out of the picture.

Brett Favre Steakhouse blows this “8-12” joint or whatever it is called away.

You can tell most of these people are just ignorant Chicago or Minnesota fans. Trying to make a joke but just sound dumb in the process.

  14. f1restarter says: Sep 7, 2013 7:43 PM

Braun may be a turd, but at least he didn’t shoot anybody. As for the restaurant, Rodgers can partner up with punter Tim Masthay and they wouldn’t have to change the name.

As to be expected. When a love affair ends, working together is just to awkward. The PED side effects were softening the relationship also….

    Smart move.

What a friend, not to have. You really think that rogers had no idea that braun was lying? Grow up. Rogers will get hurt real soon in a game as braung cant give him anything anymore. Nice friend.
    Roger is lying, big time.

If Brett Favre started wearing women’s underwear and Chanel #5, you would be the best customer the Macy’s women’s department ever had.

Best QB in the league by a large margin. His excellence breeds respect and jealousy.

  25. mackstrong2013 says: Sep 7, 2013 9:03 PM

Lol how is he the best QB by a large margin? Plug in Tom Brady or Manning etc and that offense doesn’t skip a beat.

Good move. It’s never a good idea to work with your significant other.

  30. buddypuddy says: Sep 7, 2013 9:37 PM

Milwaukee had so many homers for Braun on the Journal-Sentinel web site who soaked up Braun’s lies like sponges. They won’t admit they were duped by Braun for many months because, well, Milwaukee fans are a bunch of dupes to begin with. But they have stopped going to Braun’s restaurant.

    Bold move, Braun dupes.

  31. tokyosandblaster says: Sep 7, 2013 9:39 PM

In the eyes of weaker, less intelligent fans, there really was no winning this situation. If he maintained the partnership, he was sticking by a cheater, and if he did what he did, he’s a terrible friend.

He’s the best player in the NFL, and I’m glad he’s on my team. Everyone else seems to be super jealous his abilities and success.

Instead of being a jealous little girl, try to become better than you are.

    You’ll fail, but try.

  32. Rick Spielman is a Magician says: Sep 7, 2013 9:43 PM

I guess Aaron Rodgers doesn’t love cheaters anymore.

  33. hansenbrothers says: Sep 7, 2013 9:59 PM

I wouldn’t trust him enough to be in business with him either

  34. eastofmissball says: Sep 7, 2013 10:07 PM

At least he knows where to order his last meal.

  35. GenXJay says: Sep 7, 2013 10:11 PM

ShAarons worth on the field is TBD. although #12 is wayyyyy overpaid.
As for his shady business tactics involving a “partner/friend,” his character issues stink w/selfish pride.

  36. cobaltdriver says: Sep 7, 2013 10:17 PM

Wow..mention Aaron Roders and out one the 12 yer old Vikingfans and the lonely Favre lovers

  37. whatjusthapped says: Sep 7, 2013 10:18 PM

The restaurant had a standing rule, they didn’t serve Viking players. Not because of any hatred, they just didn’t want the liability because they heard all the Vikings do is choke.

  38. gbmickey says: Sep 7, 2013 11:16 PM

Vikuing fans giving their last bit of tough talk before reality sets in and realize this offseason was just another fantasy. Will be lucky to finish 3rd in the division.

  40. mazovoid says: Sep 8, 2013 2:21 AM

Gotta love all those rival fans that just can’t accept that Rodgers is the best QB they’ve ever seen, so they make stupid jokes about him and call him out on every stupid little mistake. Get a life.

  41. lamborginipercy12 says: Sep 8, 2013 2:44 AM

I guess this is good practice for when he has to pretend he isn’t friends with clay Matthews any more.

  42. billybobyall says: Sep 8, 2013 12:35 PM

Rodgers is the best qb in the league. I watched him play at Cal & believe the 49ers made the biggest err in their history by not drafting him! He just needs to quit making bets he doesn’t pay up on. He didn’t pay up to Alex Smith & his salary over the braun deal. Man up!
