One of the Browns’ key defensive players will miss the season opener against the Dolphins.
Defensive end Ahtyba Rubin (calf) is inactive for Sunday’s game vs. Miami.
The Browns announced that second-year pro Billy Winn will start in place of Rubin.
Rubin, 27, has started 50 regular-season games for Cleveland since 2009 and has impressed with effort, which is evidenced in his tackle totals.
The Browns’ defensive line depth is solid, which softens the blow of losing Rubin for Week One, but there’s no doubting his importance to Cleveland’s work upfront.
