Ward (43) hits Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Kevin Ogletree (85) as Browns cornerback Buster Skrine (22) helps tackle during the second half of an NFL football game in Arlington, Texas. Ward is appealing a $25,000 fine that he was notified of Wednesday, Nov. 21, for his hit on Ogletree that he maintains was legal under the NFL’s rules on helmet-to-helmet contact. Browns strong safety T.J. Ward sustained a shoulder injury in Sunday’s season opener vs. the Dolphins and is questionable to return to action, the club said on its official Twitter account.

Ward has been replaced by rookie Josh Aubrey, according to multiple reporters, including Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The 26-year-old Ward has been a starter throughout his four seasons with Cleveland.

The Browns trail Miami 6-0 early in the second quarter.
