The injuries are mounting in the Bills secondary.

Cornerback Stephon Gilmore is out for a few more weeks after wrist surgery, safety Jairus Byrd sat out the opener with plantar fasciitis and now comes word from the team that cornerback Ron Brooks has a broken foot. He will be out indefinitely, but coach Doug Marrone said he doesn’t believe the injury will end Brooks’ season.

It’s the second straight year with the same injury for Brooks and it leaves an already thin Bills cornerback corps with even less meat on its bones for at least the rest of September. Brooks, like Gilmore, was one of the team’s top four corners and that leaves Leodis McKelvin and Justin Rogers as the only healthy bodies from that group. Brandon Burton and the well-named for the job he’s likely to do Nickell Robey round out the current depth chart.

The Bills also announced that wide receiver Marquise Goodwin will have surgery after fracturing his hand. The 2013 third-rounder had one catch on Sunday. Like Brooks, his injury isn’t thought to be the end of his season but there’s also no immediate timetable for when the Bills might get him back on the field.
