Brandon Jacobs among backs Giants will look at

Super Bowl XLVI Getty Images

It’s no surprise that the Giants are going to work out running backs tomorrow, and neither is one of the particular names.

According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, the Giants will bring in former Giants back Brandon Jacobs for a look-see. ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds former Ravens and Broncos back Willis McGahee to the list, saying the visit was scheduled since Friday.

While that very well could be the case, it became far more important last night, when David Wilson doubled up on his opening week fumble from a year ago and earned a seat next to Tom Coughlin.

The Giants clearly need to add at the position, though they also need to make sure Wilson doesn’t go in the tank. He’s still a first-round talent, but if they can take a bit of pressure off him while they work on his technique, it could pay off in the short-term and the long.

Probably shouldn’t have let Bradshaw go. Always injured but always played.

    Bring back the BRANDOZER!

Jacobs makes the most sense in the short term. They need a pass blocker and he knows the offense. Even a vet like Willis would only be able to pick up basic stuff by the next game.

I thought Cough could cure chronic fumblers

Stay away from Mcgahee, he’s a fumbling machine too

Maybe they can get David Wilson to drop the ball in Times Square this New Years Eve.

I said lastnite David Wilson would be lucky to have a job this morning

They need to pick up Jonathan Dwyer

This is beyond fixable. Remember Tiki? No one fumbled more. He did something simple with the way he held the ball and that was that.

Maybe they should give him a call to talk to Wilson?

Niners looked at him a couple years ago then realized they had 4 backs better than him. Giants falling on some hard times. 7-9 at best.

I reviewed the tape and if Brandon was in on 5 to 7 plays the Giants would have won by 21 points.
    no brag just fact

this guy fumbles 5x more than Tiki…

Jacobs adds much more then his 1.5 year resting period and excellent health, he will be the “Screamer” on offensive, and to the whole team.

    Tiki is flabbergasted.

This just in: Brandon Jacobs asks for his release before he’s signed because the Giants “didn’t give him the ball enough” in his tryout.

Tiki currently is laying on the couch with his email open, his house phone next to him, and his cell phone plugged in.

Which Brandon Jacobs – the downhill runner the first few years or the east west guy we saw the last few?

  19. muskyhunter2542 says: Sep 9, 2013 12:59 PM

    Ryan Grant

  20. punksinplay says: Sep 9, 2013 1:17 PM

Bring him back. If nothing else the guy is a great blocker.

  21. girthbrooks2013 says: Sep 9, 2013 1:41 PM

If David Wilson is in trouble then so should every Wide Receiver and Eli too…..everyone played a part in the turnover game. Who feels the worst for fumbling? David Does thats who! Give him a break!

    HIGH & TIGHT!!!!

I’m all for bringing back Jacobs. At least he can still probably pound the ball into the end zone inside the 3, much unlike Wilson who is bouncing off people in tight. Plus Jacobs will bring plenty of spark to the sidelines. Its a can’t lose deal…they need something in that backfield. Might as well be Jacobs.

Hey Cardinals you have plenty of running backs. Offer a trade for one of your running backs for any of the Giants left tackle. Im sure they are way better than Levi “Ola” Brown

  25. nananatman says: Sep 9, 2013 2:24 PM

    Oh god no, Dwyer.

  26. hendeeze says: Sep 9, 2013 2:53 PM

I remember Giants fans warning Niner fans he was just a tip toe burglar behind the line. We had our doubts, but your description of him was right on the money.

  27. paperplanes420 says: Sep 9, 2013 3:18 PM

Jacobs is done. Sign Michael Turner immediately !!!

  28. lt1976 says: Sep 9, 2013 6:12 PM

Please don´t bring back Jacobs. I cannot bear watching shoestring-tackles anymore. If you want somebody who blocks solely, ok bring him in.

McGahee or Turner, take either one, if they are willing to sign for the minimum. Either guy woulg be a great change of pace to Wilson.

I don´t like Coughlin yelling at Wilson, by the way. That´s not the way to go on a young player, who is probably already down on himself. Gotta take another approach.
