Reggie Bush banged up in Lions opener

Running back Reggie Bush’s Lions debut was pretty much flawless on the field.

Bush had 101 receiving yards and 90 rushing yards for a performance that was pretty much just how the Lions dreamt things up when the signed Bush as a free agent this offseason. Bush picked up all of those yards and a touchdown despite a couple of injuries picked up during the contest. Bush hurt his groin in the first quarter, a short time after he dislocated his thumb while trying to catch a pass.

“It was facing the wrong direction,” Bush said, via Justin Rogers of MLive.com. “Thankfully I was able to just tape it up and carry the ball in my right hand.”

Bush said he felt fine throughout the game, but imagined that would cease to be the case once the painkillers faded out. There’s no indication that either injury will cause him any problems preparing for Week Two, though, so the Cardinals will need to keep looking for a way to stop Bush that the Vikings could not find.

The best part of the game was when Roid Boy Peterson ran for a 78 yd TD on his first carry everyone was thinking he was gonna beat the record blah blah blah
What happened next…..15 yds on 17 carries….held him to under 100 yds rushing after giving up almost 80 on the first play.
That was impressive by the Lions D

Instead of winning Superbowls with the Redskins, he decides to sign with that eternal, fringe 8-8/9-7 team. No wonder Kim left him. #Kanyeissmarter

I’m sure it won’t take long to heal, but I’m glad we have Bell too! Those guys are beasts together.

Other then the 1st play, lions D almost flawless. Refs were out to get us yesterday..

    So what’s new?

Reggie did a great job yesterday, but if he’s going to try and do that everyweek, he may not make it through the season. He has his problems with injuries as the Dolphins found out.

If past experience in Miami is any indication R Bush will milk these injuries for several weeks.

The refs were horrible on both sides, those two PI calls on 3rd and long extended the dagger TD drive for the Lions, especially the PI call on Calvin Johnson, the ball was 30 feet out of bounds an completely uncatchable even for Calvin. The lions D for sure bottled up AD but I think the real problem is Bill Musgrave, his at calling is horrendous and so predictable, it’s run on first, run on second, have a ponder throw a prayer on third down. Not only were his plays predictable, his runs were right into the teeth of the Lions, never any counters, toss to the outside, maybe even a reverse to patterson who by the way looked good when his number was called only once during the game. Look how much Matt Ryan flourished after Musgrave got the boot in Atlanta, now I’m not saying that Christian Ponder is Matt Ryan but his play calling is way too predictable and conservative for the offensive talent the Vikings have.

Reggie Bush does not get the credit he deserves. I’m a Saints fan, and while he was here he played well, not up to the lofty expectations coming out of college, but solid. He kept a good attitude while sharing the load, and did nothing to make waves…a solid team player.

“Logicalvoice” must seriously either be 1) some loser who lives in his mom’s basement or 2) some 10-year-old who idolizes the ‘Skins.

Seriously get a life bro and write something meaningful if we’re gonna see you here every Monday!

Reggis is the best thing to happen to the Lions since Billy Sims, the best Running Back ever for the Lions, a guy who could run and catch the ball. That’s why Barry Sanders was always looked at as an incomplete running back. he could not catch a football. Adrian Peterson can’t catch a football either.

Reggie is a solid player but he’s not the second coming like the stats may suggest to the ignorant.

As a dolphin fan you must surely realize that the 2 years Reggie played for Miami he only missed one game! Dude is a tough as they come

First time reading through, I missed the part about his thumb being dislocated. I thought “Damn. And who says football isn’t a rough sport?”

I’m a Dolphins fan and I’m rooting for Reggie all the way. He was the hardest worker on the team while he was here and proved he is a legitimate starting RB. I would caution against expecting too much just yet as a Lions fan, he had some explosive games for Miami early in the season last year. Though he never missed a start, there was a stretch where he was playing nicked and he wasn’t a difference maker at those times.

I’d love to see Bush have a pro bowl year for a playoff bound Lions team.

Funny the headline is that he was banged up, and not that he got off all over the Vikings.

He won’t last the season never has never will

Interesting – I tuned into the game with about 5 to 6 minutes left and the annoucers were questioning why Bush was getting so many carries to close out a game the Lions had in control at that point. They made the point Bush won’t last as he’s simply not a 300 to 350 a year carry guy. No knowing he was already beat up makes their point all the more interesting. The Lions need to do a better job of taking care of a key weapon.
