The Patriots appear to be even shorter on offensive targets than they already were, with reports that wide receiver Danny Amendola isn’t expected to play Thursday against the Jets.

According to the Boston Herald, Amendola wasn’t spotted at the Patriots’ walkthrough, and a source said he was “almost certain” to miss the game.

Amendola aggravated a groin injury Sunday , but came back to finish the game with 10 catches for 104 yards. His durability was a concern when they signed him to replace Wes Welker, as he’s played 16 games once in his career.

They’re also going to be without running back Shane Vereen (broken bone in wrist) and likely tight end Rob Gronkowski as well this week, forcing quarterback Tom Brady to rely on an increasingly young group of wideouts.
