Cardinals coach Bruce Arians says the NFL’s two best players at their respective positions will be going head to head on Sunday when the Lions come to town.

Arians said today that he considers his own cornerback, Patrick Peterson, to be the best in the NFL, and he considers Lions receiver Calvin Johnson to be the best in the NFL.

According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, Arians described the matchup as “probably, in my opinion, the best corner in the league is going against the best receiver in the league. Do we want to leave him out there one-on-one all day? No. But that’s going to happen. He’s going to have to win his share of the battles.”

Larry Fitzgerald may not feel great about his coach calling someone else the NFL’s best receiver, and Darrelle Revis and Richard Sherman are among the cornerbacks who might argue about Peterson being the best. But Peterson covering Megatron is undoubtedly one of the best individual matchups we can see in the NFL, on this Sunday or on any Sunday.
