Brandon Browner expected to run today, practice Thursday

The Seahawks have a showdown with their NFC West rivals in San Francisco on Sunday night and it will be a couple more days before we know whether or not they’ll have cornerback Brandon Browner in the lineup for it.

Coach Pete Carroll said at his press conference Wednesday that he thinks Browner has a real chance to play in the game. The coach also announced that Browner would run today and practice on Thursday as he makes his way back from the hamstring injury that kept him out of the team’s Week One win in Carolina. Once those things happen, the Seahawks will make a decision about whether or not Browner will play against the 49ers.

“We’ll wait until Friday to see how he responds to Thursday and go from there,” Carroll said.

Walter Thurmond started in place of Browner last weekend with Byron Maxwell playing outside in sub packages while Thurmond kicked inside to his familiar slot position.

  1. When the 49ers beat the Seahawks this Sunday, you’re going to hear lots of excuses about how the Hawks are missing players to injury and cheating.

Of course, those fans will forget that last year Justin AND Aldon Smith were injured (Aldon barely played) and they just came off a short week playing across the country in New England.

  2. Maxwell was outstanding last Sunday, so this isn’t as much of a worry as some may think. Much more worried about whether Avril or Clem will be available for this Sunday….our secondary is DEEP, but our pass rush right now is not.

Thank you for reminding us of your excuses for 42-13. Have a nice day!

  4. The seahawks are the deepest in the nfl in the secondary. Not even close money have 4 pro bowl caliber corners and another who would be a legitimate starter on most nfl teams.

That being said we need him and his physicality he helps set he tone with his aggressiveness and hitting. We want all our guns even if they niners have an avg wr corps without crab.

Can’t wait. Good luck niners but Beat’m down Hawks.

  5. Skins fans on here trolling? Really?
Grown folks are talking. Why don’t you just worry about your own defense, and their ability to hold teams to less then forty per half.
Wilson and kaep stay healthy, unlike #rgblownknee
    Hail who?

  6. I think it’s going to be an excellent game. Can’t wait! We’re playing in Seattle (good for us) and we’re missing some key players (good for the 49ers). Those two factors should even things out so that the score will be a little closer than last year–let’s say 42-14.

  7. Um, remember last time Vernon Davis played against us?? That’s ok….he probably doesn’t either after Kam Chancellor knocked him into the middle of next week!!!! ….legally I might add!!

  8. The hawk fans will be out in full force to support their team, but I think that Seattle is still limited on offense and that will be the game decider

  9. Do we remember the score last time?…
Do you guys remember your record the last 30 years?

Yea that would be a losing one.

  10. Seattle has 3 non starting corners that cover better than Browner. They don’t have the size or physicality, but Browner being out doesn’t hurt near as bad as not having Avril, Clemons, and Irvin. It’s hard to beat good teams without solid line play and Seattle is dinged up on both lines. Should be interesting.
