Brodrick Bunkley expected to miss several weeks with calf injury

Brodrick Bunkley AP

The Saints defense came into the season with several missing parts because of injuries and they lost another one during their victory over the Falcons.

Nose tackle Brodrick Bunkley left the game in the first half with a leg injury and did not return. Bunkley was spotted on crutches wearing a walking boot after the end of the game, making it no great surprise that Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Bunkley will miss several weeks while he recovers from what’s been diagnosed as an injury to his calf.

Bunkley, who is in his second season with the Saints, joins linebackers Will Smith, Victor Butler and Jonathan Vilma and defensive end Kenyon Coleman on the sideline. Smith, Butler and Coleman are all done for the season, but Rapaport notes that Bunkley’s injury isn’t believed to be serious enough to rule him out for the rest of the year.

John Jenkins replaced Bunkley against the Falcons and will move into the starting lineup until Bunkley is healthy enough to reclaim his spot.

Former Overrated DT from the Eagles. Anything that comes out of Philly is damaged goods!

and before everyone starts pronouncing this as a death sentence for the Saints, Bunkley only played 7 snaps. Jenkins looked great at the nose, and so did Akiem Hicks when he rotated in to spell him.

    @ccjcsr

No damaged goods there in Saintland eh there hyprcrite?!

    Like:
    -franchises integrity
    -sportmanship
    -coaching ethics
    -players ethics

Come back and talk crap when your one Super Bowl Victory hasnt lost all it’s lustre with the entire league knowing your franchise- from coaches to players- cheated AND was too stupid to not get caught doing it.

And ask yourself…if the NFL knew about the dirty tactics even back then- and just seemingly took FOREVER to investigate….

..did you really WIN the Super bowl..or did the NFL engineer that victory on your behalf to throw the people of Louisiana a bone for all the suffering they endured?

Now….leave Philly alone…. New Orleans is as big a dump hole as any….as is your team. Don’t throw away the “aint’s” paperbags…you’ll need them SOONER than LATER

Bunkley will now be a backup. Jenkins is taking over. Book it.

Bunkley: looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. He anchored last year’s historically worst defense ever, and is part of a LONG list of first round bust picks by Andy Reid.

The Eagles now have Fletcher Cox: stronger, meaner, and a smarter football player. Meanwhile, the Saints are now depending on a guy who couldn’t beat out a guy the Eagles no longer wanted. That’s just sad.

it’s funny when you see people get so riled up and angry because their team has never won a superbowl.

Champions say you should never let them see you sweat and boy, you sure are sweating hardcore!
