Falcons checking out veteran wideouts

AP

None of the wide receivers the Falcons looked at yesterday are replacements for Roddy White.

But the fact they’re looking might suggest he’s going to need some time.

According to multiple reports, the Falcons worked out Lavelle Hawkins, Mohamed Massaquoi and Courtney Roby yesterday.

White has admitted he’s not close to 100 percent, and the ankle problem could be something that bothers him for some time.

The Falcons have plenty of receiving threats without him, but the whole is clearly better with White on the other side from Julio Jones. The fact they’re bringing in veteran receivers for workouts (as opposed to young emergency-list updaters) might point to needing someone for short-term cover.

  1. Thumbs up for Lavelle Hawkins. He has tremendous untapped potential. The reason he didn’t stick with the Titans is he’s been too undisciplined in the running game (blocking). The Titans are trying to return to their tough/physical identity.

  2. Ha Ha! Falcons are running scared already. I bet it was a long long long plane ride back to Atlanta after they lost to the Saints (Super Bowl 45 Champions) on Sunday in the New Orleans Mercedes Benz Superdome! Ha Ha. It doesn’t matter how many players the Falcons try to bring in now to shore things up because its a foregone-conclusion that the Saints will win the South and the NFC and will again play in and again win the Super Bowl. Geaux Saints!

  3. that seems like an emergency update list of players to me. but they definitely need to change their recieving dynamic cuz roddy was nowhere near 100% shouldnt a played that game.

as a saints fan i would love to see them pay courtney roby to play reciever. lol dude is strictly a gunner.
