In his first game as a Patriots, the oft-injured Danny Amendola was injured again. Though he admirably played through the groin strain suffered in Buffalo, he missed Thursday night’s game against the Jets.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has reported that Amendola will be out at least two but as many as six weeks. However, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that it’s too early to peg the limits of a potential return.
Per the source, it’s “impossible” to predict Amendola’s absence at this point, only five days removed from the injury.
Earlier this week, the Patriots used their short-term IR designation on running back Shane Vereen, which means that they’ll have to carry Amendola on the roster until he returns. Whether that’s two, three, four, five, six, or more weeks remains to be seen.
And so we’ll have to watch this one week by week, waiting for him to return to practice, to be listed as questionable on the injury report (possibly for multiple weeks), and then to actually suit up and play.
