Arrest warrant issued for Charles Rogers

Former Lions draft bust Charles Rogers is in trouble with the law again.

An arrest warrant was issued for Rogers, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft, after he failed to appear in court this week.

Rogers is currently facing charges on five different misdemeanors, and this is the fourth time in the last year and a half that an arrest warrant has been issued for him, according to MLive.com.

Rogers has been in and out of drug treatment and has been in trouble for, among other things, leaving a threatening message on his mother’s answering machine.

The 32-year-old Rogers lasted just three seasons and caught just 36 passes in the NFL.

Thank goodness they passed on Andre with the number 2 pick that year. Great job Matt Millan.

Maybe he and Ryan Leaf can play catch in the pen and mount a comeback?

Does anyone remember the madden commercial he did when he was drafted. It went like this I’m Charles Rodgers I’ve got 5 warrants and 15 arrests. He sings it too

Spartan WR’s Rogers, Plaxico, where will it end. Awesome mascot though

You’ll seriously take any possible opportunity available to disparage the Lions. It gets really, really old.

Remember when he was drafted, all of the draft “experts” said he had the talent of Randy Moss but without the baggage?

This kid is one of the most disappointing players I can remember. He was so much fun to watch in college.

Another fine bit of drafting genius.

Matt Millen should be arrested for stealing the Ford family’s money and impersonating a GM.

  15. hrmlss says: Sep 13, 2013 6:34 PM

Maybe him and Titus could be cellmates!

Charles Rogers and AJ Green are basically the same player….same skill set and body type. The key difference: One has a brain, and the other doesn’t. What a waste of talent.

Sad, and this was all over weed? Dude really did have Randy Moss type ability coming out of Michigan State.

As a Spartan alum two more who immediately come to mind are Andre “Bad Moon” Rison and Mark Ingram but I’m sure there are many more.

He had 2 kids before his freshman year at Michigan State. He’s a really brilliant guy.

Remember that interview w/Jemel Hill on ESPN? She served softball questions about drug use and he was so evasive it was clear he was still baking.

Says the moron that disparages a HOFer every time he makes a post. Good call, tool.

As I recall, he kept breaking his collar bone and would be out for the year. And then there was his pot bust. Can’t believe he was the #2 overall pick.

You could have a special edition of action figures of Matt Millen draft busts starting with Rogers, Mike Williams, and Joey Harrington.

I actually feel bad for Harrington. If Rodgers hadn’t been a bust, Harrington would have had someone to throw to.

  30. christophershearin says: Sep 13, 2013 9:52 PM

    Titus Young is his protege’

  31. jordiway73 says: Sep 13, 2013 10:23 PM

Don’t blame Matt Millen for that pick, that was Steve Mariucci’s pick.

  32. jordiway73 says: Sep 13, 2013 10:25 PM

I remember when he got drafted the first thing he said was “we fittin to haves a good time” Party on wayne

  33. thegreatgabbert says: Sep 13, 2013 10:28 PM

Personally I think that Charles has been out of football long enough that he should be allowed to Resist arrest In Peace.

  34. thegreatgabbert says: Sep 13, 2013 10:32 PM

@mintberrycrunch – Well, Charles and A.J. both scored a 10 on the Wonderlic test, so I think you have to flip a coin to decide which one had a brain and which one didn’t.

  35. mightyjoe214 says: Sep 13, 2013 10:39 PM

I was the number two overall pick,
    “And then I got High”

    I once had endorsement deals,
    “And then I got High”

I was the road to a come back,
    “And then I got High”

“And then I got High”,”And then I got High”,”And then I got High”

This wasn’t about weed, no baking. If you ever spent time in a big city and watched junkies you would know seeing this guys interviews he was mainlining. I haven’t lived in Oakland for thirty years and I could spot a heroin user a mile away.

  38. angrylionsfan says: Sep 13, 2013 11:46 PM

Was he getting jealous of Titus Young stealing his limelight?

  39. z0inks says: Sep 13, 2013 11:55 PM

After all these years….finally Rogers can feel wanted again.

  40. badintent says: Sep 14, 2013 12:23 AM

OJ , you have a visitor to see you. You have five minutes. Says his name is Rogers.

  41. arrowmint says: Sep 14, 2013 4:30 AM

Matt Millen was the worst GM in the history of the NFL, yet you clowns in the media give that imbecile a pulpit.

    For shame.
