Champ Bailey out again this week

Broncos Camp Football AP

The Giants look like they’ll have cornerback Prince Amukamara in the lineup for the Manning family reunion on Sunday, but the Broncos are going to remain down one of their starting corners for at least another week.

The Broncos ruled out cornerback Champ Bailey with the foot injury that also kept him out of the opener against the Ravens last Thursday night. The news is no surprise as Bailey wasn’t able to practice at all this week, although there was hope that he’d be able to get back on the field this week with 10 days between games. Coach John Fox said that there wasn’t any setback when asked about Bailey’s condition.

“No setback, he’s on schedule. He’s making great progress,” Fox said, via the team’s website. “He’s being watched over by her medical staff and he’s getting closer.”

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Tony Carter and Chris Harris will continue to see most of the playing time at corner in Bailey’s absence.

The only other player ruled out by the Broncos was tight end Joel Dreessen, who is still recovering from knee surgery. Linebacker Wesley Woodyard and wide receiver Wes Welker led a list of several probable players who don’t share initials with Walter White or Walt Whitman.

You mean that guy who just says stuff?

Champ hasn’t played a game this year and had one bad game last year.

You clearly didn’t watch any Broncos games last year or read any of the metrics that still have him as one of the absolute top at the position. He allowed ONE regular season TD last year, and it was to AJ Green.

Oh wait, I get it. You saw the highlights from last year’s playoff game against the Ravens and made a wild, uneducated assumption.

same people who said our D was screwed without Von Miller….they have no clue about anything but there own team….try watching other games then just your own team…you might learn something about football.

Champ can take his time, well need him healthy. Carter and Harris can hold the fort and DRC is lookin like a monster. Best secondary in the league when Champ and Von come back. DRC on Nicks, Harris/Carter on Cruz and were good. Its gonna be a tough game but the Giants D struggled containing a slow but crafty Jason Witten. I wanna see how they handle Julius Thomas. I think Decker bounces back and has a solid game, Miles Austin had some success against them last week. I think Peyton hangs 4 td’s on em

Not to nitpick but DRC and Harris start with Carter coming in for sub packages, however when Carter comes in Harris moves to the inside and covers the slot.

Who covers Randle then? Gonna be a shootout for sure, 2 of the best trios of WRs in the NFL, after last nights game it will be a welcome sight.

You guys are wrong, champ bailey is clearly done. Just shut up and go watch your 80 year old QB choke

No your wrong swaggy. Shut your mouth and comment on your own team and players. Champ is a shutdown corner and has been for years. lol….well take our 80 year old quarterback that throws seven touchdowns in a game.

I think Eli is going to light up the scoreboard considering his healthy weapons at WR and the week 2 game plan that will lean on the pass against Denver. There’s the chance he could have a bad day but it seems doubtful. Go Giants!
