The Jets lost both the game and, possibly, the man who guaranteed they would win it. (Without, of course, guaranteeing it.)
Defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson exited Thursday night’s loss with an apparent ankle injury. After the game, Jets coach Rex Ryan confirmed the situation, and expressed concern regarding the potential type of sprain Wilkerson may have.
“It is an ankle, I believe,” Ryan told reporters, via quotes distributed by the team. “So we will see how he is. Hopefully it is not a high ankle [sprain] because those are rough. But I am hoping that it’s not, but I am not sure yet.”
Wilkerson was willing to make no guarantees about his health. Or to pretty much say anything about it.
“For the details you have to ask coach Rex Ryan,” Wilkerson said.
Wilkerson may use the same response the next time he’s asked whether the Jets are going to win a game they’re favored to lose.
