We noted earlier Saturday that Washington would need to open a roster spot to add placekicker John Potter, who has reportedly been signed in the event Kai Forbath (groin) can’t kick on Sunday at Green Bay.

According to ESPN 980 in Washington D.C., the club will be waiving quarterback Pat White to make room for Potter.

The 27-year-old White earned a roster spot with Washington this summer after two full seasons out of the NFL. He was listed as Washington’s fourth-string quarterback.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Washington is “likely” to re-sign White if he goes unclaimed by another club.

White completed 28-of-50 passes for 330 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in four preseason games for Washington in 2013. He also rushed for 103 yards and three TDs on 19 carries.
