The Seattle Seahawks announced Saturday they have re-signed defensive tackle Clinton McDonald and released offensive tackle Michael Person.

McDonald was one of a few veterans to be released by the Seahawks during final cuts on August 31. McDonald, fullback Michael Robinson and cornerback Antoine Winfield were all released by Seattle in an effort to save money against their salary cap. McDonald had signed a restricted free agent tender with the Seahawks this offseason that would have paid him $1.323 million. Though terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team, McDonald’s new deal will likely pay him less than he was previously scheduled to make.

Person played two snaps against the Carolina Panthers last week and was called for two penalties in those snaps (a false start and a holding). Person was used as an extra tight end for Seattle as the Seahawks had elected to only keep two tight ends on the roster during final cuts in Zach Miller and Luke Willson. With the addition of Kellen Davis as a third tight end this week, the role Seattle had found for Person was no longer needed. Person was promoted from the practice squad to Seattle’s active roster last October but his only game appearance for the Seahawks was last week against Carolina.

McDonald has appeared in 29 games for Seattle over the last two seasons with 60 tackles.
