Big returns aplenty in Vikings-Bears

Sunday’s Vikings-Bears game has not lacked for excitement.

Three return touchdowns were scored in the first half — two by the Vikings, one by the Bears — in a game currently led 24-21 by Chicago in the third quarter.

The Vikings’ return scores came on a 105-yard Cordarrelle Patterson kickoff return to start the game and a 61-yard Brian Robison second-quarter fumble return after Jared Allen sacked Jay Cutler and stripped him of the ball.

The Bears’ return TD was courtesy of Tim Jennings, who picked off Christian Ponder and returned it 44 yards in the second quarter.

The Bears also got kickoff returns of 80 and 78 yards from Devin Hester in the first half.

Some television viewers may have missed parts of the Minnesota-Chicago game, however. The Fox telecast appeared to endure some technical difficulties in the first half, especially toward the end of the second quarter. However, the telecast was up and running in the third quarter.

  1. What a game…. The Vikings played as hard as I’ve seen in a while. The Bears deserved to loose with 4 turnovers, but wow…. Cutler to Bennett, great day by Forte , Jennings on defense…. Wow. Hell of a game. Total bull that Fox decided not to show this game nationally Maybe Fox will learn what games the public wants to see…..

Obviously the public doesn`t want to watch either of those teams or they would have been on.

  3. Brutal play calling by Musgrave. Ponder stinks. Our D-line gets no pressure and is just plain vanilla. We were lucky to even be in this game. Very frustrated Viking fan.

    heartbreaker….

It is for all the Cutler haters, to watch him lead his team to a victory 2 weeks in a row. Today’s victory was in the final seconds…..didn’t look pretty this game, but the Bears look to have a pretty serious offensive threat!

  5. I’m a Bears fan but I feel the need to remind the Packer fans that the Vikings are only a game behind them. If the season is over for them it must be over for the Packers as well who are a game behind…Da Bears!!

We all know that the Bears will get swept by the Packers. Even you know it.

The Vikings only hope was to win some against the other NFC North teams. They didn’t, and now they know they won’t make the playoffs.

Actually we don’t, but the Bears beat the Vikings today……that we DEFINITELY know!

  8. A one game lead means nothing! The Bears started 2012 at 7-1 and still missed the playoffs. That of course was when Lovie was still in the picture and deservedlywas canned following the season. There is a huge philosophical difference between Lovie’s style and Trestman’s style. In the NFL, you have to be able to put up points every week, PERIOD! With Trestman’s system, they are fully capable of that as they’ve shown, and the Bears aren’t completely reliant on their defense scoring as many points as their offense now! We actually look like a legit NFL team!!!

  9. btw, Devin Hester, way to step up and do whatever it takes for the team. There were alot of people ready to embrace your exit from the Bears this past off season, but you’ve demonstrated some amazing humility and leadership for this Bear organization. In my opinion, you’ve solidified yourself as the best return man, EVER!
