Ray Rice suffers hip flexor strain, no MRI

Ray Rice AP

The Ravens appear to have dodged a bullet.

Running back Ray Rice, who hobbled straight off the field into the locker room late in the Ravens’ 14-6 win over the Browns, was diagnosed with a hip flexor strain.

Coach John Harbaugh said that no MRI was scheduled at this time, which indicates it’s not a major problem.

That’s a huge sigh of relief for the Ravens, who could not afford any more hits on offense,  after giving away wide receiver Anquan Boldin and losing tight end Dennis Pitta to a preseason hip injury.

    LOLOLOL!!!

    Ravens meltdown!

If they lost Ray, it would leave only one real running back on the team. It sure would be nice to have Rainey back right now. Keeping 2 fullbacks doesn’t look so smart anymore.

Wearethesteelers: Perhaps you read the TV wrong. The Ravens won: a division game. Tomorrow the Steelers will be o-2, with a division loss. And you are LOL?
By the way, is your name Rooney? If not, who’s this “we”? Pittsburgh isn’t Green Bay, where anybody can buy a share and use the word “we”. Perhaps you need counseling. The Steelers are a company that owns a football team and you are a little man watching TV from his Mommy’s basement.

Whoa, the person is not a A steeler fan at all but your famous Joeflaccomontana in disguise. Think about it …no posts today from the posting troll….think about it. Any way cheering injuries is stupid….real people are getting this injuries so to cheer is to show your absolute ignorance.

I love Ray Rice but he didn’t have a great season last year by his standards, costly fumbles in the playoffs last year, ineffective for both games so far and another fumble today. Pierce has been the better runner for the last 6 or seven games the Ravens have played. It would be nice to see him get healthy and regain form.

  10. wearethesteelers says: Sep 15, 2013 6:00 PM

In all honesty, we’d prefer Rice to be healthy when we play them. Rice has been tentative for the last year, plus he’s a fumbler. Pierce is a better back these days.

This post is out of character and not wearethesteelers the phrasing is all from the unflushable one joemontanaflacco . Think about it.

Look people. I love how your labeled for cheering for injuries. These guys get paid a lot of money to workout, play a game, (and yes) rehab. Injuries are part of the game that is why they have 53 man rosters and practice squads. Every team has injury problems, just ask the Steelers who have been hammered 3 years in a row. I had knee surgery a couple years ago and I only wish I had the support and resources they do. So yes, if a player goes down and it helps my team I might be happy about that. Unless it is life threatening of course. I’m sure there were tons of Ravens fans real upset about Jason Campbell coming in with the game on the line .

I’m fine with B. Pierce as long as he can stay healthy, but good to know Ray Rizzle is ok.

  14. fdugrad says: Sep 15, 2013 6:52 PM

I wonder how one reliably decides this injury is not at least POTENTIALLY serious without an MRI? What is there to lose by having the procedure in order to err in the conservative? This seems a bit risky, given how important RR is to The Ravens.

  15. scoobies05 says: Sep 15, 2013 6:54 PM

considering that the brownies had put up a whopping 6 pts i had no issues with him playing

  16. crownofthehelmet says: Sep 15, 2013 8:01 PM

This Steeler fan is glad its not serious. Injuries suck, and Rice has some productive years still left in the tank.

Plus I’d hate to disappoint Jarvis and Shamarko, as they’re looking forward to formally introducing themselves to Rice with a de-cleating. Injury-free, of course.

No other fanbase cheers harder for injuries to opponents than the Bmore Ravens. There’s a glee fest on the Raven boards because Andre Johnson has a concussion.

    Theyll beat you without him.

You are a class A douche nozzle. Congrats, you troll PFT and incite football fans, how proud you must be. As a rule NFL fans can be pretty hard to tolerate, but I honestly hope that someday, you cackle with delight at an opposing player’s misfortune, and a fan of said opponent hears it and removes your ability to type.

  23. lovefootball4life says: Sep 16, 2013 1:48 PM

@jtb what other “Raven boards” are you trolling and why?

Haven’t seen a single “glee fest” for an AJ concussion anywhere here on PFT.

4 1 What’s worse is your logic and room temp IQ . If you want to make the steelers look bad you assume an alias….joeflaccomontana….and spew childish insulting comments. You sir don’t have the kidneys to filter this crap and you wonder what is worse….duh?
