Manti Te’o is getting closer toward being able to make his regular season debut for the San Diego Chargers.
According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Te’o is expected to return to practice for the Chargers on Wednesday after missing the first two games of the season with a foot injury.
Te’o was injured in the Chargers’ exhibition opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 8 and has been sidelined ever since. He only saw nine snaps of action against the Seahawks before going down with the injury.
“I’m not used to sitting out that much,” Te’o said. “It’s not something I’ll ever get used to.”
Te’o was selected by the Chargers in the second round of the draft and was expected to start alongside Donald Butler in their 3-4 defensive scheme. With Te’o out, second-year linebacker Bront Bird has started both games and recorded 15 tackles.
