Quinton Coples returns to the practice field

The Jets are always going to get more attention for their quarterback moves, but they’re getting closer to getting a key defensive part back, which should help.

According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, outside linebacker Quinton Coples was back on the practice field Monday, his first work since suffering a hairline fracture in his ankle in the preseason.

Getting last year’s first-round pick back will only help, because they were using him in various roles in the preseason, after coach Rex Ryan gave him a gentle nudge about his work habits in the weight room.

The Jets have been starting special teamer Garrett McIntyre in his spot the last two games, and McIntyre has two tackles and no sacks.

I don’t think Couples is that great of a player. He doesn’t have a great motor and was surrounded by a lot of talent at UNC when he had his great college numbers. Which explained his numbers dropping way down.

All the draft experts wanted the Seahawks to take Coples in 2012 draft. At this point, Would you want Bruce Irvin or Quinton Coples on your team?

McIntyre is a good try-hard guy, but Coples is a difference maker. The Jets need him back ASAP.

Top 5 defense just went to top 3. With Darrin Walls stepping in big until Milliner is ready, this D is nasty. Sheldon Richardson is already playing at a DROY level.

Can’t believe we finally read something about the Jets without having to read about their effeminate qb with the headband! Does he have those in pastels?

I am sure that Idzick will claim that he was responsible for drafting Coples!

He had 5.5 sacks in 9 rookie starts, so clearly you have no clue what you’re talking about.
