The Jets are always going to get more attention for their quarterback moves, but they’re getting closer to getting a key defensive part back, which should help.

According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, outside linebacker Quinton Coples was back on the practice field Monday, his first work since suffering a hairline fracture in his ankle in the preseason.

Getting last year’s first-round pick back will only help, because they were using him in various roles in the preseason, after coach Rex Ryan gave him a gentle nudge about his work habits in the weight room.

The Jets have been starting special teamer Garrett McIntyre in his spot the last two games, and McIntyre has two tackles and no sacks.
