Reggie Bush “not too concerned” about knee injury

Running back Reggie Bush had a stirring debut for the Lions in Week One, gaining nearly 200 total yards in a victory, but Week Two wasn’t quite so enjoyable.

Bush was forced out of the game in the first half after taking a hit to his left knee and then returned in the second half just long enough to lose a fumble before retreating to the bench for the rest of the day. Bush said after the game that he “wasn’t myself” and shouldn’t have come back into the game after hurting his knee, which will have an MRI on Monday. Bush is not expecting to hear any bad news after the test.

“I’m not too concerned,” Bush said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “We’ll see how it goes tomorrow and take it one day at a time. I’m not too concerned, though. I think I’ll be all right and I’m going to do everything I can to get back on the field Sunday, even if I have to rehab 24 hours a day.”

The Lions hope he’s right. They had 90 yards of offense in the second half of the game and let a 21-13 lead over the Cardinals disappear into a 25-21 loss. The offensive downturn can’t all be blamed on Bush’s absence, but it took an important piece out of the works and the Lions failed to adapt well enough to hold on for a win in the desert.
