Richard Sherman warns “ignorant idiots” to not doubt them again

Sherman

Once again, the Seahawks spanked the 49ers in Seattle. Once again, cornerback Richard Sherman showed grace, poise, and class in victory.

“There are a lot of pundits and ignorant idiots who thought, ‘Oh, the Seahawks are gonna lose this game.’ Well, please, please don’t doubt us again,” Sherman told NBC’s Michele Tafoya after the 29-3 win. “Every time you doubt us, you look stupid.”

Sherman shut down 49ers receiver Anquan Boldin, who went from 200-plus yards against the Packers to one catch on Sunday night. And Sherman was quick to point out that the lone reception didn’t occur when Sherman was covering Boldin. (The teammate who gave up that reception surely appreciates that.)

We’ll agree with Sherman that it’s foolish to doubt the Seahawks at home. On the road, it’s a different issue -- as evidenced by last week’s 12-7 win over the Panthers.

Since the Seahawks will be playing half of their remaining 14 games at home, including one at San Francisco, a little humility would serve Sherman well.

When the Seahawks play at home, humble pie will never be on the menu. And for good reason.
