Brandon Lloyd gives up football for acting

Lloyd AP

Like so many other NFL players (especially receivers), Brandon Lloyd apparently wants to be an actor.  Unlike so many other NFL players (especially receivers), Lloyd apparently is going to be one.

According to Nick Underhill of MassLive.com, the 10-year veteran makes his acting debut with Daniel Baldwin in a straight-to-DVD movie about zombies.

After Effect will be released on October 8.  In it, Brandon Lloyd plays Sgt. Chuck Lloyd.

To find out whether the former Patriot named Lloyd playing a character named Lloyd ends up having the same fate as another guy named Lloyd who had an unfortunate encounter (allegedly) with a former Patriot named Hernandez, you’ll need to buy or rent or do whatever it is that people now do to watch movies.

That likely will be the only way to see Brandon Lloyd this year.  He repeatedly has spurned offers to play, including an inquiry from the Patriots.

I’m no marketing genius but I’d think that if teams were willing to sign you after camp and you still got to start your movie career that you could probably sign for a cool mill or so and get some free promotion…and, you know, another million dollars.

I wonder if the Patriots will be asked to do the camera work on the film.

Always thought this guy was going to be a stud when he was in SF, but then he went to the Redskins and his career died like most who take the fateful trip to Landover, MD.

Why go across the middle and get tore up by a LB or DB, just go into acting.

    Day one, baby.

Brandon Lloyd teamed up with Fatty Baldwin in a zombie flick? My prayers have been answered…

    Good luck, Brandon.

We hope your acting career turns out better than that of Jim Brown, or (shudder) O.J. Simpson.

Kinda old. He had pictures of himself on set on his Facebook page, back in 2010.

What a lame preview… And you’re giving up on your career to act in a movie with DANIEL Baldwin? Alec… definitely, Billy… maybe, but DANIEL??? The only thing worse would be Stephen.

  17. fordmandalay says: Sep 17, 2013 8:26 AM

Wow… I foresee ‘Sharknado 3′ as his career peak. Let me point out to Brandon; Daniel Baldwin, after decades of acting training, dedication, and working in the field, AND being a Baldwin, is the LEAD ACTOR in this no-budget zombie movie. What do you think is YOUR acting future?

    Sounds like a hit!

Thats the wrong Baldwin brother to be in a movie with. The order goes Alec, Billy, Stephen, then Daniel.

That paragraph about all the Lloyds was quite morbid. Very funny though, well done.

I don’t think Brandon has seen what happens in a horror movie before…they’re not exactly colorblind.

The tactic of immediately crumpling into fetal position at first sight of the undead bodes poorly for Sgt. Lloyd.

  26. whitdog23 says: Sep 17, 2013 10:01 AM

somebody followed Brandon Lloyd on Facebook in 2010?? LOL that’s so lame. can’t believe they were proud to admit it

  27. mogogo1 says: Sep 17, 2013 10:13 AM

Always funny when newbie actors get characters that have their own names.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Patriots players or ex players are just funny as hell.
From them to their fans thinking they really won those 3 rings legitimately to thinking they can just ditch football for acting.

    LMAO

I heard they had to rename the character Lloyd because Brandon kept missing his cues.

  30. schmitty2 says: Sep 17, 2013 10:25 AM

Acting suits him well. Just look at all those catches he acted were so hard to catch so he would leap or dive to get them when they were coming straight at him to begin with.

Is nick underhill even a real name. Sounds like something out of fletch.

  32. ecupatsfan12 says: Sep 17, 2013 11:39 AM

He may as well had been pretending to be a football player all of last year.

  33. fearthehoody says: Sep 17, 2013 1:04 PM

If he gets thrown a ball he wont live long in the movie. His natural reaction is to fall right down

Brandon reportedly plays a cop who solves crimes in his spare time.

  35. papacrick says: Sep 17, 2013 3:58 PM

I thought he did a good job of acting like a football player in that long running series. He will do fantastic pairing up with the black sheep of the Baldwin family
