Browns deny report that Weeden’s thumb is “really screwed up”

At a time when the precise status of Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden’s right thumb is unclear, one thing that is clear is that the Browns have clearly disputed any notion that it could shut Weeden down for the season.

Per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns have denied a report from WTAM that the thumb is “really screwed up” (easy with the jargon, Dr. Oz) and that Weeden could be “long, long, long time, possibly the season.”

The Browns otherwise aren’t saying anything about Weeden’s status for Sunday, which is a smart thing to do.  Why let the Vikings know whether they’ll see Weeden or Jason Campbell or Brian Hoyer or Bobby Hoying or Bobby Brady on Sunday?

Then again, based on how Weeden has played so far this year it won’t matter.

Browns are really screwed up period

And as soon as they locate the thumb on the field, they will post a picture of it…

Brown’s motto for the next game is “Win One For The Thumb”. Then, hopefully before the season is over, they will win another for a finger or two.

“His thumb is fine, it’s the rest of the team that’s screwed up.”

  7. undeadjesus says: Sep 17, 2013 7:17 PM

The funny thing is the Browns probably have a better chance to win this week without Weeden than with him. Vikings D is notorious for making opposing backups and scrubs look like pro bowlers.

  8. captnmatt56 says: Sep 17, 2013 7:21 PM

As a Browns fan, I can honestly say that Weedon’s thumb could be stitched to his forehead and it would still be the least screwed up thing with this team.

  9. captnmatt56 says: Sep 17, 2013 7:24 PM

If they amputate his thumb, can they sew it to Greg Little’s hand? Certainly couldn’t hurt his chances of actually catching a ball or two.

Oh Boy, Jason Campbell gets another shot.

  11. helladonks says: Sep 17, 2013 7:25 PM

On the plus side. Celevand didn’t Mortage the future for rg3 and now can draft tj Boyd

  13. yourmomsnewfriend says: Sep 17, 2013 7:37 PM

That would technically be an improvement.

Which injury is less relevant , Weeden’s thumb or Blaine Gabbert’s hand ?

Yeah, I remember MY Grandpa used to always have problems with his thumbs too.

  17. mackcarrington says: Sep 17, 2013 7:45 PM

Well, he’s young, so he’ll heal really quick…. Oh wait…….

Cant believe anything WTAM reports on the Browns, they lost the broadcast rights to the team. Looking to get back at the team!

However, should it be true. It would be a great description of the team under Banner/Lombardi–really, really, really screwed up.

Never thought Holmgren would look so good!

He should just play anyway…what’s the worst that could happen, they score only one field goal instead of two?

If it is really screwed up then he should Ronnie Lott it and keep playing…instead of West Coast, they’ll have the North Coast offense – all pitch outs to Shorty Richardson…

Nothing could be better than the biqueens losing to the Browns with Weeden being injured. The MN psyche wards will be packed add Prozac sales will soar in the Land of 10k Trailer Park Cesspools.

  24. sportsmeccabi says: Sep 17, 2013 8:46 PM

    Dear Cleveland,

Can we have our offensive coordinator back?

    Sincerely,
    Carolina.

  26. istateyourname says: Sep 17, 2013 8:58 PM

Out of respect for the deceased body part, maybe PFT could remove the comment ratings for this thread…just a thought…

  27. natijim235 says: Sep 17, 2013 9:52 PM

he could be out a long, long, long time – hope that means forever

  28. dumbpollack says: Sep 17, 2013 9:56 PM

I’d not wait to see how his thumb is, I’d cut him. He can’t make quick enough decisions to play in the NFL. Oh by the way, it would be nice if he he even a little but of touch on his passes!

How’s he going to hitchhike his way out of town now? Maybe Greg Little will give him a ride…if he still has a license!

  31. gallogj says: Sep 17, 2013 11:04 PM

Can a thumb get a staph infection? If so, ask LeCharles who his lawyer is.

  32. nananatman says: Sep 17, 2013 11:16 PM

They are about to get their best WR back from suspension but with that guy he may only be available for about 15 minutes.

  33. bigdawgy54 says: Sep 18, 2013 12:11 AM

Bad thumb? Weeden would “over-thumb” a hitch for a ride home. No touch.

  34. footballchic777 says: Sep 18, 2013 12:41 AM

Do the Browns need a savior? Tebow is available……

Keep Ponder, you guys can have Weeds for
A couple pounds of cheese curds and a sixth round pick in 2020.

“Suck For Luck” in Indy has turned into “Play For TJ” in Cleveland … assuming, of course, that the Browns have an actual plan in place …

Can’t wait for the Browns to win this one.

Hey bg4mn0, since you’re a biggot I shouldn’t be surprised by this, but you’re not as good with data as your name would suggest. I see you can use simple addition to count Super Bowl victories, but “higher” forms of mathematics escape you (not to mention basic grammar). You should probably know that there is a larger percentage of the population in Wisconsin that live in mobile homes than in Minnesota. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
