Browns deny report that Weeden’s thumb is “really screwed up”

Weeden

At a time when the precise status of Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden’s right thumb is unclear, one thing that is clear is that the Browns have clearly disputed any notion that it could shut Weeden down for the season.

Per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns have denied a report from WTAM that the thumb is “really screwed up’’ (easy with the jargon, Dr. Oz) and that Weeden could be “long, long, long time, possibly the season.’'

The Browns otherwise aren’t saying anything about Weeden’s status for Sunday, which is a smart thing to do. Why let the Vikings know whether they’ll see Weeden or Jason Campbell or Brian Hoyer or Bobby Hoying or Bobby Brady on Sunday?

Then again, based on how Weeden has played so far this year it won’t matter.
