John Harbaugh expects to see Ed Reed on Sunday

Ed Reed has never lined up for an NFL game for anyone but the Ravens, but his former coach expects that to change when the Texans visit Baltimore in Week Three.

John Harbaugh said Monday that he anticipates seeing Reed at safety for Houston in the game even though Reed has yet to play this season after having hip surgery in the offseason.

“We’ll have to assume that he’s going to play,” Harbaugh said, via Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. “We’d be surprised if he didn’t play in this game, and we’ll have to assume that he’s going to play the way he’s played in the past.”

Although there’s no tape on Reed in the Houston defense, Harbaugh doesn’t think it will be too hard to figure out where he’ll be after years of watching him in Baltimore. Texans coach Gary Kubiak said that the “arrow is pointing way up” in terms of Reed’s fitness and that when Reed is “ready to go, it’s time to go,” so Harbaugh’s prediction may well come true after Reed was on the wrong side of game-time decisions in the first two weeks.

If it does, it will add an entertaining sidebar to a game that was already shaping up as one that will help determine playoff positioning in the AFC this season.
