49ers staying mum on Vernon Davis, Davis isn’t

AP

During Sunday night’s loss to the Seahawks, 49ers tight end Vernon Davis suffered a hamstring injury.  The 49ers have exercised their prerogative to say nothing about the player’s condition until the 49ers have to say something about the player’s condition.

Davis has chosen a different approach.

No need to worry y’all,” Davis tweeted overnight.  “My leg is feeling great just need a little rest til kickoff according to the docs.”

That could mean he won’t practice much if at all this week, as the 49ers prepare to host the Colts.  But it also sounds like Davis will play.

Starting today, the 49ers will issue injury reports regarding whether and to what extent Davis will practice.  Come Friday, they’ll apply a label to him regarding the likelihood he’ll play on Sunday.

  1. It’s really comical how the media portray the Niners as well as the Seahawks as these NFC powerhouses that have been in the post season every year for the last ten and have multiple Super Bowl victories when neither team has done much at all. Stop passing out the premature Lombardi’s and gold jackets will you?

The Fortywhiners are who we thought they were. That RGIIIWannabe Kaepernick is a fraud. #EasybeatdownfortheREDSKINSinNovember

You the man Logic! Don’t let reality, common sense, or criminal ineptitude get in the way of your Redskins Superbowl Dreams.

  3. From A Ravens fan – we wish Vernon the best – unlike this ignorant Skins fan! Hopefully we will meet again in combat and respect one another’s accomplishments.
Now you see what we in Maryland have to deal with because the Redskins actually brag about how good they are to the SB Champs…and then want to rip the other team who could easily have won the big one.
Squealers and Foreskin fans suck! Good luck Niners.

  4. Davis isn’t hurt. He was intimidated and quit in that game. The Seahawks didn’t just beat the 49ers, they showed them up. Dominance.

  5. “The Fortywhiners are who we thought they were.”

Please stop using bad puns in regards to players or team names. They’re not clever, and the only thing hurt is the English language.

We’re trying to have a civilization here.

  6. Vernon Davis ought to have a nickname. If I may throw out two suggestions:

    1) “Brunin” Vernon (for his tendency to burn D-backs and linebackers).

    2) “Money Earnin’ ” Vernon, because the man has earned whatever his next contract will be wroth multiple times over.

I am also open to any other nicknames that would rhyme with Vernon.

  7. As a Hawks fan, I would take Kaep(gulp) over RGIII any day. He’s injury prone and way over hyped by the east coast media. Fix your damn hair and stop wearing those stupid ninja scarves on your head. HTTR=0-2 lol

    *********

Mostly it has been fans of other teams that have been doing that.
What we have been saying (largely ignored) is that both the 49ers and Seahawks have good teams this year and it will be a battle for each meeting.
Yes we do say that we have the ability to beat anybody we go up against, but we would not be fans if we didn’t think that.

Oh there goes another Raven fan with the inferiority complex in the DC Metro area. Easy there big guy. Logical tries to egg on fans of other teams, and he does crack me up a bit. But this is about the niners, and you are on here trash talking the skins. You need to worry about you lethargic team who barely got past the Browns over the weekend, and hope your RB will be ok. I would trash talk, but based off the lousy performance the past 2 weeks, I can’t say much. Dude, sorry but this area is redskins country and you just have to deal with it. As for your trash talking about the fans, trust me all fans are the same no matter who they root for, including your fellow raven fans. That’s why we’re fans. Right?

  10. Sounds good. Vernon Davis says he is ready to play. Last thing we need is more injuries to the team. Key to winning the Super Bowl is to stay healthy through the season and peak during the playoffs. The 49ers started out 2-3 in the Super Bowl season of 1994. The rest of the season, as they say, is history.

  11. If I was the coach I would have a meeting and tell the players you go on twitter and whatever and talk about your injury, we fine you 10K per incident.

Injury reports are an important part of the football strategy. If he is fine, fine, if he is out, let your next opponent know that at the last minute if possible.

So let me get this right, Kap goes up against seattle at their house, plays against a team that did not loose one game at home and are almost unbeatable in that hell hole and somehow Kap is a fraud and a wannabe ER3?? You want logic? How is it that Kap torched the packers who happen to have the worst pass defense( think redskins took that title now) yet your godlike media spoonfed Er3 sucked? Explain that logic. Please dont throw stats because ER3 stats have been acquired on garbage time. Yes, seahawks own us on that field, but your messiah deserves to be ripped. Don’t give us excuses because according to you and your organization and ER3, he’s god like with recovery and all the hype with “team all in for day 1” . Why is your defense so bad? It’s ER3’s fault because according to you and media he is god. Can’t wait till niners play them. Have feeling your team will be 2-8 by then.

  13. NFC worst. Are we really supposed to buy that great seattle vs. san fran whine and cheese rivalry? And to Richard Sherman I say, the rest of the country Doubts your team every week it plays outside of seattle!

  14. I’m still amazed by the crying coming from the NFL east teams. Those teams choose to put Band-Aid on their aging dysfunctional teams, and send them into battle. Some of these teams are the midgets, circus, cheaters, girls, iggles, deadskins, squealers, and the fins.

Simply stated all the power teams are in the west, so make sure to watch the 4:00 PM Sunday games. And get you popcorn ready!

Listen up Jimmy, the niners and seahawks are young teams, in the here and now – and should be contending for years to come. Any fan who has watched this game for over a decade should know that this sport is cyclical. Just because both of these teams haven’t had success for the last 10+ years doesn’t mean they will be bottom dwellers forever. The truth is, these teams are capable of beating any other team in this league. You can deny that all you want, but it’s not going to change today’s reality. Wake up and pay attention.

49ers in the NFC Chamiopnship 2 consecutive years, a Super bowl appearance in one of those years. That’s not much to you? So, ONLY winning a Super Bowl is considered “much” for you?

@ninersince81: Don’t forget the thumping you took at your house last year! We own you 71 -16 past 2 games!!

    ——————————————————————–
How could I forget that lol. Can’t win at that place. I’m a die hard niner fan, but I will say this, everyone better hope niners take division because if seattle gets home field in playoffs then we are all in trouble. Damn I despise marshall lynch. Kills us every time.

  19. I see a lot of Redskins fans here talking trash. Are you kidding me? The skins may end up the season just fine, but as of right now, the only team LESS deserving of respect is maybe Jacksonville. I don’t mind Seahawks fans boasting……. the Seahawks have earned the right. But the Redskins?

If you should actually win a game this season, talk about your victory. Until then, you come across as pathetic blowers of hot air.

  20. @uplate5301: I agree. My younger brother is a big time redskins fan and also obnoxious with me having to hear how ER3 is god. Starting to wonder if logicalvoicesays is my brother. Go Niners!!

  21. @sbchampsagain:
“What’s wrong with Colin? Yeech. Appears the league has caught up to him with the help of a little film.”

That’s what they said about him the last time he got stomped in Seattle. Then he won 4 his next 5 games (with the only loss being by 5 yards in the Super Bowl), and in the process set the all-time NFL QB rushing record. Yep they sure have him figured out.

It’s the NFL. Everybody loses on occasion and everybody even gets stomped on occasion.

The Seahawks seem to have his number in Seattle. Nobody else does that we can tell, and we don’t yet know about how he’ll play them outside Seattle.

I know a major portion of his play comes in adjustments at the line, and he really wasn’t able to make any in Seattle. But then, at 8-0 there last year, the Seahawks have pretty-much shown NOBODY is able to make adjustments at the line there.

The 12th man is really an impact player.

  22. Kap will be fine. The one thing I like about this kid is that he won’t quit. He is not ER3 and I’m glad he’s not. He’s Kap and that is all right with me. Need to use kendall Hunter more.

  23. He would never play more than a quarter per game if he played the Hawks every game. He would either “hurt is hammy” get concussed, or be busy wiping pee off of his leg.
