Antwan Barnes takes shot at Mario Williams, Panthers

It was bad enough losing yet another game on yet another blown fourth-quarter lead.

But here’s how bad it’s gotten for the Panthers: They’ve become a punchline for the Jets.

Jets outside linebacker Antwan Barnes was discussing the 4.5 sacks Bills defensive end Mario Williams posted last week against Carolina, when he put it into context.

It’s the Panthers we’re talking about,” Barnes said with a laugh to Newsday’s Kimberley Martin. “Obviously, he’s a first-round pick, they pay him so much money, so he’s got to go out there and do something. For our O-linemen, it’s the same. They go against us every day. They won’t be scared or intimidated by it.”

This is where we pause for a moment, to let Panthers right tackle Byron Bell and his teammates extinguish themselves, and then slink to the corner in shame.

    Are his teammates on fire?

Wow! You guys are crediting KMart! No Manish love today?

He’s partially correct, the Panthers are horrible. Take away Luke and Cam and they are an SEC team at best.

A Jet bragging for no reason, what a novelty.

On a side note. Panthers coaching is bad but did they not just play a tight game with the Seahawks? Don’t think horrible is the word. Don’t know how to close games out would make more sense.

He’s on the Jets. Case closed.

  7. icanspeel says: Sep 18, 2013 2:23 PM

So how many sacks will he get when the Jets face the Panthers?

  8. pilot2011 says: Sep 18, 2013 2:25 PM

Well take it for what it’s worth, but this dude wouldn’t even make the Panthers team

The Panthers are just above the Jags and the Jets are not far behind!

Hold on, is Barnes a lineman?? way to put some undue pressure on your guys upfront.

I didn’t realize Barnes was still in the League.

Although come to think of it, maybe that’s a premature conclusion.

Mario was unstoppable. Jets defense is looking pretty good but I wouldn’t put any extra pressure on my O-Line teammates if I was Barnes. He needs to worry about stopping Spiller and Jackson.

A jet, backup at that, condensending to the panthers. Huh? So much for humility.

Ahh a Jets player talking… Maybe he’s just mad because Mario had more sacks last week then he had all last season?

I had to google who Antwan Barnes is……

    This was funny

I dont think the Panthers are bad at all. They cant close out a game but they play tough every week.

  18. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Sep 18, 2013 6:07 PM

Oh yea the Jets are wayyy better than the Panthers.

Who is Antwan Barnes? I seriously have never heard of the guy until now. Why is he speaking for his Offensive Lineman? I think he should pay more attention to his job. Worry about seeing Spiller blow by you or Jackson giving you a stiff-arm you’ll never forget.

So are there O-linemen out there in the league that get intimidated by opposing defenses? If so, then they probably shouldn’t be in the NFL…

Side note, who is Antwan Barnes??
