Bengals place Robert Geathers on IR

On Monday, the Bengals said farewell to safety Jeromy Miles.  On Wednesday, they brought him back.

Miles has filled the roster spot previously occupied by veteran defensive end Robert Geathers.  Geathers has been placed on injured reserve with an elbow injury suffered on Monday night against the Steelers.

Geathers has spent his entire career with the Bengals, becoming a full-time starter in 2007 and bagging 33 career sacks.  He was not a member of the starting lineup in 2013.

The 1-1 Bengals also signed free-agent cornerback Curtis Marsh, a third-round pick of the Eagles in 2011.  In turn, the team waived first-year linebacker J.K. Schaffer, who had been elevated from the practice squad for Monday’s game.

Put him on the shelf to Geather dust for the next six months.

Frustrated but the Bengals D-line is loaded.
    Wish Geathers a quick recovery

Time for Margus Hunt to step in.

Hope he fully recovers, both for his career and because the D will need to carry the O plenty of games this year. Can’t have too many D-lineman go down. But it’s near impossible to get through a Steeler game unscathed, so…

“This is what happens when you run into the Steel Curtain.”

It actually came from friendly fire.
Judging by your first two games this year, your “Steel Curtain” is starting to look more like a set of venetian blinds.

It’s not good but it seems like he has been living off of one good year. We have some young guys that can get some more reps now.

Good man down. Great role player. Never complained, just came to work. He would willingly absorb blocks so that others could get tackles and sacks. Excellent in the locker room. I hope that Mr. Geathers continues to travel with the team as a De Facto assistant coach for the D-Line.
