The Saints won their game last Sunday, but they lost a member of their secondary for the rest of the season.

Coach Sean Payton announced Wednesday that the team has placed cornerback Patrick Robinson on injured reserve, ending his season after just two games. Robinson’s knee buckled and gave out during the win over the Bucs while he was lightly engaged with Bucs wide receiver Mike Williams and he was immediately placed in an air cast before being carted off the field.

Robinson was the 32nd overal pick of the 2010 draft and started all 16 games for the Saints last season. He’d moved into a reserve role behind Keenan Lewis and Jabari Greer this season, however.

Payton also announced that the team has brought back cornerback Chris Carr, who was one of the final cuts in August. Carr played for the Chargers last season and has also spent time with the Ravens, Titans and Raiders over the course of his career.
