Victor Cruz declares Giants’ first must-win week

Taking a break from a promotional appearance, Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz declared this a must-win week.

(Checks calendar. Yep, still September).

Of course, there’s a natural urgency on both sides in a meeting between the 0-2 Giants and the 0-2 Panthers.

I think we have to win [Sunday],” he said, via Justin Tasch of the New York Daily News.  “Every game’s a must-win for us, regardless of who we’re playing, home or away, every game’s a must-win for us, and we have to do that. We’re excited for the opportunity. . . .

Of course, going 14-2 would put them in good shape to make the playoffs, but at the moment, the Giants need something to ease the pressure that’s building after a sloppy start. But because they overcame an 0-2 start in 2007 to win a Super Bowl, there’s an institutional sense that it can be done.

“Even if you weren’t a part of that team, it’s definitely motivation to see how they battled back from that and won the Super Bowl,” said Cruz, who was in college watching that team. “We definitely use that as motivation, but we have to write our own story and understand how we want this season to go for ourselves. So we’re taking it one game at a time, but ’07 will definitely be motivation for the rest of this season moving forward.”

Not falling to 0-3 at the hands of another winless teaam should be enough.

Mediocre WR, mediocre franchise under a cheater owner named Mara. Not even the National Fixed League can save you now. #TheREDSKINSowntheEast

We know what happens when the Giants have their backs against the wall.

    Giants win big on Sunday.

As a Panther fan… Our secondary was already bad. Now we have injuries everywhere to the point where we almost put a running back in at cornerback last week. This one will get ugly. Eli is gonna pass all over us and our O-line will have no answer for the Giants pass rush. Panthers 13 – Giants 38.

Cruz is right. Giants start might be a function of schedule, but a win in week 3 is mandatory. Starting on road at division rival is tough. Home opener against one of the top teams in the league that also brings significant media attention doesn’t help either. Starting 0-2 was certainly foreseeable under these circumstances, but losing to Carolina is not an option at this point.

Cutting back on the turnovers might help too.

It’s easy to wait until you are playing a crap team to say you must win.

14-2 what are you smoking?? Baby blue will have to work real hard to get to 8-8. No running game, erratic QB, defense is avg at best. Plenty of blame to go around, but this story is over already for the 2013 NYG team. They will watch another team play for the title on their home field.

hey nimrod….it doesn’t matter who they were playing on Sunday, its a must win game. they go 0-3 and they might as well start preparing for the draft.

well, eli is 1 yard behind rogers for the nfl lead….and the giants have no running game, so it is safe to assume that he will probably throw for 350+. As for the giants pass rush that you allude to, have you actually seen a giants game this year?

The truth is that the NFC East looks like the worst division in the NFL right now.

Eli usually has 2 terrible games per season hopefully the last 2 games where this season’s. Giants have the Panthers next weekend, I do believe they will figure this all out before that game is over.

Peyton lit up our secondary but Peyton also has lit up some of the greatest secondary many of many times. So I am really not looking at this performance and saying wow this secondary is as terrible as last season. No, they looked good the whole first half and they played very well against a team that has very good passing. Season opener they held an arguably one of top 5 wide out to 22 yards last. Besides those 2 huge outside run, Giants run defense was good. The run game look horrible but they couldn’t use it much as we would like but it looks like

Wilson is learning how to stop the fumbling. Wilson is a good back, he will get it going soon. Myers is going to be a great addition to an all ready deep receiving crew.

So all in all, this counts on the record but it wasn’t a conference game nor a division game and the rest of the NFC East lost. So the Giants didn’t lose any ground in the standings. Giants will play a lot better next weekend and hopefully this will start a Giants typical winning streak, they usually go on early in the season.

Go Giants, in my eyes this team is very capable to win 11 games.

Under Synder ownership this crappy skins team has a losing record.

Synder sued his season ticket holders during the recession who were unable to pay for their tickets during that year.

    Chargers fans extra for tailgaiting.

Has been through like 8 HC’s in the past 10 years.

Yeah, this is amazing, everyone is looking for this punkass on the skins post and guess where he’s hiding, right here posting his nonsense in a Giants story. This guy’s hilarious. Seriously, for a moment there over the summer, he had me convinced griffin was Superman.

In any case, I understand. He’s a typical bandwagon, fair weather fan, jumps right off as soon as things look bleak. Carry on fool, I’d figure we’d see you more in postings other than those for the skins since that whole experiment has not gone the way shanahan and the skins would’ve wanted it. Hahaha….. skins superbowl champs…. now that was funny!!!

Proven that 0-2 teams don’t go to the playoffs. You’re about a week late on that must win Cruz. But enjoy that stupid dance of yours anyway.
