Willis McGahee taking physical with Browns

The Browns pulled off a big trade on Wednesday afternoon, sending running back Trent Richardson to the Colts in exchange for a 2014 first-round pick.

With Richardson gone, the Browns have an open spot on their roster and a hole in their backfield. It looks like they’ll be filling both with veteran running back Willis McGahee.

The Browns have announced that they are bringing McGahee in for a physical and will presumably be adding him to the roster if he passes. He’ll join Chris Ogbonnaya and Bobby Rainey on the depth chart at running back in Cleveland and he’ll likely wind up on the top of that depth chart if he’s healthy enough to fill that role. Doubts about McGahee’s health reportedly led them to release him this offseason.

McGahee ran for 731 yards on 167 carries and scored four touchdowns for the Broncos last season.

Gutsy move by the Browns and doesn’t bode well for Weeden. T-Rich seems to always be hurt (life of a NFL running back). McGahee is more than capable of toting the rock.

And I’m pretty sure they hope he can barely walk…then give him the starting job.

SMDH way to tank the season Cleveland.

I’m pretty sure McGahee can average the 3.5 ypc that Richardson was giving them.

McGahee is an upgrade over Richardson in the short term. If he hadn’t gotten hurt last year, the Broncos would have coasted to the Super Bowl. They never got any tough running after his injury and No-gain Moreno is not the answer in Denver.

Every possible 1st round QB is gonna cry themselves to sleep tonight at the thought of being drafted by the browns.

There is probably a good reason that McGahee hasn’t been picked up until now. Remember Shaun Alexander to the Redskins?

Any gas in the tank willis ? Had a decent career. You sure you want to come back to this mess

So they trade Richardson cause hes “oft injured” then sign McGahee????

The Browns have to have their eye on someone coming up in the draft – why the heck would they give up a player who could have been their workhorse for years? …considering that it now makes its obviously they are set to lose this season.

Keep your chin up Browns fans, truth is you probably weren’t going to do well this season, so maybe this will turn out well.

    Perfect stop-gap.

McGahee probably has 1 year left in him and runs hard and with power. Browns just need a productive 1 year guy

After seeing what the Broncos have at RB, they might regret not having him right now

    Play downey for Clowney?

Stupid. Colts could’ve signed McGahee on the cheap and kept their first rounder to draft someone on the offensive line that can actually keep their franchise QB up on his feet.

Every good college QB that’s an underclassman just made the easiest decision of their lives, stay in college one more year in hopes of not going to Cleveland.

Don’t be surprised if Rainey goes off. I hated that my ravens had to let him go. He’s a ray rice clone, literally the exact size.

As a Ravens fan I liked Willis. I think if he stays healthy like Trent seemed not to he will be a good addition.
