Colts elevate Da’Rick Rogers from practice squad

Trent Richardson isn’t the only new face on the Colts roster.

Indianapolis announced that they have promoted wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers from the practice squad. Rogers starred at Tennessee as a sophomore in 2011, but left the school after failing several drug tests. He went undrafted after spending the 2012 season at Tennessee Tech and failed to make the Bills out of training camp.

Rogers joins the team in the wake of the news that tight end Dwayne Allen will miss the rest of the season after having hip surgery. Allen missed last week’s game against the Dolphins and the Colts used more three receiver sets on Sunday as a result. Rogers’ elevation could be a sign that they’ll be doing more of the same in the coming weeks as well.

The Colts also saw wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey go down with a shoulder injury against Miami, but he’s been practicing this week and it looks like he will be in the lineup against San Francisco.

Interesting. There wasn’t much written on this kid when Buffalo cut him, but the local rumor was that the coaches HATED his personality and attitude. Loads of talent, IMPOSSIBLE individual to deal with. Maybe the Indy staff connected with him. Could be a stud.

Win, lose or draw, at least Indy is trying to put a team worth watching on the field.

If he behaves like Prince Amakamura (sp?) he’ll be fine. I hear he can’t put the bong down though.

He will be a great Receiver with Luck as his QB… I’m surprised he didn’t make an NFL Roster out of training camp…problem is he knows he talented…and has a sense of entitlement like most Diva receivers…
He will still do well and make a name for himself…watch!

pitch87mph suggested the staff at indy may have connected with rogers I suggest that after getting booted off the Tennessee team that wasn’t enough then going undrafted wasn’t enough then getting cut by buffalo wasn’t enough then he gets another chance maybe the light finally came on I sure hope so I followed Tennessee for 15 years from peytons freshman year to a couple years ago and rogers has more talent than many of their wrs lets hope he does well the nfl could use a feel good story about now. its similar to rooting for the honey badger its just the thing to do im a ram fan so either way I don’t really have a dog in the fight although when they play us I hope for it to be a not so good game lol

Hands proved not to be stellar in Bills camp and he had a tendency to lay down on some plays. Unfortunate. If he corrects those things he’s a monster.
