PFT Live: Browns talk with Tony Grossi, Week Three picks

There’s not much question about what the biggest news in the NFL was on Wednesday.

It was the Browns’ decision to cut bait on 2012 third overall pick Trent Richardson and send the running back to the Colts in exchange for a first-round pick. The Browns claim they aren’t throwing in the towel on this season in hopes of landing a prized college player next spring and Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland will join Mike Florio on PFT Live to let us know what he thinks about the deal. We’ll also talk about coach Rob Chudzinski’s choice not to give Brandon Weeden a free path back to the starting quarterback job when he’s healthy and more about where the Browns are headed now and in the future.

It’s also time to do the picks for Week Three. Florio and MDS will share their thoughts on which teams will emerge victorious in Week Three and they differ on almost half of them, which should make for some contention during the discussion.

For all you Cleveland fans that think the gm did a smart move by this just remember that your gm is the same gm that drafted Jamarcus Russel.

Right, and he went right under Al Davis’ nose to do it!

I’m no Mike Lombardi fan, but he left the Raiders in January, 2007. Four months before JaMarcus Russell was drafted. He was no more than a liason between Al Davis and the coaches at the best of time. Time to put that urban myth to rest.
