Tight back forces Brandon Marshall out of practice

Minnesota Vikings v Chicago Bears

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall’s frustrations with his hip caused a brief commotion around the Bears at the end of August when Marshall said he felt like he was being “pushed a little bit” when his surgically-repaired hip wasn’t feeling quite 100 percent.

That was followed by a four-day excused absence from practice for Marshall, who returned with word that everything was good with his hip structurally. Everything appears to remain fine with the hip, but another medical issue forced Marshall to bring his Thursday to an early end.

Marshall missed the last portion of practice after his back tightened up on him, something that the team said was for precautionary reasons. That’s probably more of a hope than a guarantee given the nature of back issues and Marshall will probably take it easy on Friday to increase the chances that he’s ready and raring to go on Sunday night against the Steelers. Unless things are worse than they appear, he should be.

Cornerback Charles Tillman was limited at practice for the Bears with a knee injury, but the team was otherwise healthy.
