For the first time this season, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is listed as something other than doubtful on the team’s final injury report of the week.
Gronkowski is questionable for Sunday’s date with the Buccaneers, which fits with what Gronkowski said about his condition earlier this week. He said he had progressed “big time” from last week and Ed Werder of ESPN reported that he was 50-50 to play against Tampa.
Other reports, including our own, have been more pessimistic about Gronkowski being in the lineup, but he’s clearly moving in the right direction in terms of making his 2013 debut.
Things don’t look as good for wide receiver Danny Amendola. Amendola, who did not play against the Jets in Week Two, will not be having sports hernia surgery but avoiding an operation isn’t going to be enough to get him on the field this week. He’s listed as doubtful and finding someone who thinks he will be on the field is about as difficult as finding Bigfoot.
Wide receiver and special teams stalwart Matthew Slater is the only Patriot who has been ruled out for the game.
