Hakeem Nicks misses practice for personal reasons

AP

A dislocated middle finger didn’t keep Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks from practicing on Wednesday or Thursday.  He didn’t practice Friday, but for reasons unrelated to his finger.

Per multiple reports, the team says Nicks missed practice for personal reasons.

We’ve confirmed that he indeed missed practice for personal reasons, but we’ve yet to determine what the specific reasons were.  (Ergo the term “personal.”)

Nicks is fully expected to play on Sunday when the Giants return to his hometown of Charlotte — a city in which many think Hakeem will be personally residing in 2014.

  1. it’s b/c he personally hates coughlin, and I can’t blame him!!!!

0-2 and would be truly awesome if carolina set them up with 0-3!! hahahahahhhahha

That super bowl clock on your locker wall is ticking!!! LOLOL

  2. Sorry Mr Wrong, Nicks is gone. Cruz got Nicks’ money…and it was deserved in many ways, Cruz is a great player. But the Giants have Randle who is up and coming and need to focus on re-signing/signing defensive players.

Nicks would be a great target for Newton in NC.

  3. Can’t wait till Sunday around 4:06 PM EST when the NY FOOTBALL GIANTS are officially 0-3, after losing to Cam & the boys. The Giants have been the absolute luckiest team in any success they’ve had…whether it be the Tyree catch, the packers OC (Philbins) son dying on the week of the game against NYG, the 49ers getting every single call against them by the officials, 49ers losing their punt returner for the NYG game, then having Williams Drop a punt, the pats Wes Welker having multiple drops in SB, another 5th string NYG making a lucky catch to get a drive going….the 2 best teams in their division being at a 32 million dollar disadvantage (bc Mara is up goodells rear end)….everything goes the Giants way, but it’s come to an end, at least on the field (look for the nfl front office to try & help the giants as much as they possibly could)…

    ========================================

The Giants might be a bad team and Coughlin and Nicks might be overrated, but Nicks has been very open about liking Coughlin. As Nicks said this summer:

“Me and Coach Coughlin have a great relationship,” Nicks said. “Like I’ve said, he’s one of the best coaches I’ve been around. I like our relationship, and I don’t think it could ever be soured.”

But maybe it’s better to trust some random guy calling himself “tombradyswig” instead of what Nicks said himself.

  5. The personal reasons for not showing up for work must be huge, when you see your head coach on the job a day after his brother unexpectedly drops dead.

  6. Panthers can have him for their first round pick no problem, I think all y’all said the same crap about Cruz but you seem to forget about the first round tender we will use on Nicks the restricted free agent. Your first round pick is the only way he leaves the Giants! Bet that.

  7. @spedman24 – The Coach for the 49ers sounds, well, a lot like you. Heyyy, are you Haubaugh? Anyway I’d say the 49ers are the lucky ones cause let’s face facts, if the lights don’t go out in the SB the Ravens were about to open up an Industrial Strength can of Whoopin’ on the 49ers. Oh and the 49ers signed that 5th string receiver that made a lucky catch to get a drive going. Ashame he hasn’t done anything since then but shine his SB ring and stay injured to collect his money.

As far as the Packers go they haven’t done anything since the Giants beat them and Lame Bo and knocked them out of the playoffs. The offense is nothing to write home about and defensively if Clay Mathews is the answer then it has got to be an INCREDIBLY stupid question.

  8. So many people are ignorant and shouldn’t talk if they don’t know the Giants. Cruz did not get Nicks’ money. Cruz was paid as a slot receiver, not a #1 receiver. He made it clear he wasn’t very happy about that. The giants can still afford to get Nicks signed long term. And they will. He is far and away their best receiver and they drafted him to be their #1 receiver. He’s gotten hurt but they know what he can do when healthy. Unless something drastic happens this year where he gets hurt again, he will remain with the Giants. I can literally guarantee it.

  9. That one sentence about where Nicks may play next year is exactly the kind of rumour that made this site great. Wish there was more of it.
