Jerry Jones: Brian Waters looks ready to play an entire game

Brian Waters AP

Guard Brian Waters played his first game since 2011 last Sunday when he took 18 snaps on the right side of the Cowboys offensive line against the Chiefs.

Waters rotated with starter Mackenzy Bernadeau in that game, but owner Jerry Jones said during an appearance on KRLD Friday that he thought the veteran guard has gotten his conditioning to a point where he’d be ready to plan an entire game.

“It would be my read on him physically,” Jones said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I think he’s starting to get into the area of physical shape that he wants to be in.”

Jones offered no word about whether or not Waters would be playing the entire game against the Rams this weekend, but he’ll be playing more than 18 snaps at the very least. The Cowboys didn’t dance with Waters for weeks before finally signing him so that he could back up Bernadeau. Waters is in Dallas to be a starter and it doesn’t sound like it will be very long before that’s the case.

Before I take Jerry’s word for it I need to see what Vegas thinks the over/under is on minutes played.

He was a great free agent signing for the Patriots in 2011; he made the Pro Bowl.

You must believe the 40 yr old mind of Jerruh.

Alex Boone would like to punch Jerruh in the face.

The fact that Bernedeau was taking snaps in practice at Center is a pretty strong indication that Waters is going to start at RG this weekend.

Berneadeau would become the ‘swing’ interior backup, able to play LG, C, or RG and allowing the ‘Boys to leave Costa at home, saving a roster spot for a backup DT.

I’d leave Bernadeau at home before Costa.

Jerrah better check with Vegas and see if this new development changes the line on his team winning this weekend. If they are underdogs by Vegas then Jerrah could save a lot of money by not having his players have to show up at the field Sunday.

This guy seems like a good guard, if he blocks like he did for for Tom Brady as a right guard it will be terrific. He will be a major up grade at the position. Still need to bring someone young to learn under him.

All about Jerry getting his money worth out of Waters and nothing to do with his conditioning. I hope this act of desperation at guard succeeds but my mind tells me it won’t.

Yeah. They sure looked good against the chiefs.
