Guard Brian Waters played his first game since 2011 last Sunday when he took 18 snaps on the right side of the Cowboys offensive line against the Chiefs.

Waters rotated with starter Mackenzy Bernadeau in that game, but owner Jerry Jones said during an appearance on KRLD Friday that he thought the veteran guard has gotten his conditioning to a point where he’d be ready to plan an entire game.

“It would be my read on him physically,” Jones said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I think he’s starting to get into the area of physical shape that he wants to be in.”

Jones offered no word about whether or not Waters would be playing the entire game against the Rams this weekend, but he’ll be playing more than 18 snaps at the very least. The Cowboys didn’t dance with Waters for weeks before finally signing him so that he could back up Bernadeau. Waters is in Dallas to be a starter and it doesn’t sound like it will be very long before that’s the case.
