Pete Carroll confirms Russell Okung to injured reserve/designated to return

It’s going to be a while before the Seahawks get left tackle Russell Okung back in the lineup.

On Friday, coach Pete Carroll confirmed reports that Okung will be place on injured reserve/designated for return because of a torn ligament in his left big toe. Okung received multiple medical opinions before the team made their decision and Carroll said the team is hopeful that Okung will be back after the mandatory eight games on the sideline.

“It’s a 6-8 week injury and we will hope that that will all work out right for us,” Carroll said, via Curtis Crabtree of PFT. “He’s kind of excited about the fact that he has a chance to get back this season as we are as well, so we will just ride it out, see what happens, take good care of him and hopefully be is able to make it.”

There was better injury news elsewhere for the Seahawks. Carroll said defensive end Chris Clemons will be able to play against Jacksonville on Sunday, which will be his first game action of the 2013 season because of rehab from a torn ACL.

Cornerback Brandon Browner, who has also missed the first two games, also appears set to make his first game appearance of the season. Browner, who has been bothered by a hamstring injury, is probable after a strong week of practice.

Seattle really needs to hit on a few more O linemen in the next draft. Gotta protect #3.

No big lost thank God The Redskins did not draft him. HTTR.

I agree with both of you about Hawks needing to draft offensive lineman and thought they would this past year. But Tom Cable is an Alex Gibbs disciple. Gibbs believed in drafted guys late that fit his scheme and developing them. Two guys that fit that mold are Alvin Bailey (undrafted) and Michael Bowie who Seattle is very high on. Bailey was said to be getting first team reps at LT this week along with McQuistan.

Oh yes larry david. The redskins are in such great shape facing 0-3 and the Rams still holding another 1st round pick. Thank the heavens Trent Williams only got sent to the ER by that 5’0 Hawaiian gangster for a quick visit.

Agreed, BIG Alvin Bailey looked REALLY good in preseason. It will be cool to see what he can handle with the starters in a real game.

    GO HAWKS!

No worries, Pete the Cheat will just reach into his bin full of PEDs and get this overrated Hack back in line ASAP.

    Larrydavid:

    Per Rotoworld:

Trent Williams 42 games since being drafted 4th.

Russel Okung 39 games since being drafted 6th.

Seattle paid $12 mil less for 3 less games

Sometimes emotions get in the way of rational thinking. If the Seahawks started like the skins I’d have loose stools too. I just wouldn’t share it with the world.

    Anything else knowledgebowl champ?

Wow, wholelottaawesome with an ’80s-style Tyson beatdown. Nice job.

They don’t need him to beat on scrubs like the 9ers.

They may however need him against some good teams.

Seattle should look to trade KC and get Albert. I think Seattle could use him even after Russell gets back, and KC wanted a 2nd or 3rd round for him is all.

Pete Carroll confirms the Seahawks are still the best team in the league.

This is ridiculous, just cut the toe off and finish the season. NFL players get paid big bucks for a reason, sometimes sacrifices need to be made

You got me larry. Seattle has not won a Super Bowl in its history. When was the last time Washington was in one? Since… Well lets keep it more relevant. What happened last time Washington was in the playoffs? Oops sorry. Didn’t mean to get your tummy loose again.

BTW the real Larry David would appreciate not being affiliated with a racist team moniker so he’s asking if you just change your name to
    Iholdlogicalvoicesjock4him.
