The Seattle Seahawks had an open roster spot to fill after placing left tackle Russell Okung on injured reserve Friday with a designation to return.
After releasing Michael Person last week (since claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Rams), the Seahawks were a bit light on the offensive line with just eight linemen on their active roster. A league source confirmed that the Seahawks are signing Caylin Hauptmann off the Cleveland Browns practice squad to take the place of Okung on Seattle’s 53-man roster.
Hauptmann posted on Twitter Saturday he was heading to join the Seahawks.

The move was not listed on the league’s daily transaction report Saturday, which means the move will not become official until Monday. The Seahawks will have just 52 players available for their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Hauptmann is a rookie out of Florida International that spent the preseason in Cleveland. He appeared in all four preseason games while making one start at left guard against the Chicago Bears in the Browns’ preseason finale.
In addition, the Seahawks released receiver Bryan Walters from their practice squad.
